The idea of establishing a Girls school in Axim was mooted by Mr. Patrick Jimpetey Djan, the then Municipal Director of education for Nzema East. After he had been transferred, Mrs. Efua Sam Bonku, Mr. Joseph Mackintosh Arthur, Awulae Attibrukusu III, (Omanhene of lower Axim) and Rev. Father Awuah, the Catholic Priest of Saint Anthony Catholic Church came together to ensure that the establishment of a girls school in Axim became a reality. The Catholic Church released a piece of land for its establishment.The school which was started as a private institution was absorbed by the government in the 2011/2012 academic year.

To create a congenial atmosphere for the pursuit of sound academic, moral and socio-cultural values in the school.

Axim Girls wants to establish itself as a school of excellence, uniquely placed to provide quality education.
