Breman Asikuma Senior High

Breman Asikuma Secondary School (BASS) started in October, 1964 at the old Methodist Primary School premises, now Col. Baidoo primary and J.H.S compound. This idea was initiated by Mr. Robert Essuman, who was the chief farmer at that time. Other individuals who helped with the development of Beautiful BASS were Messers Isaac K. Botchwey and T. B. Okwan. The establishment was a joint venture between the Methodist Church Ghana, Breman Asikuma Society and the Breman Traditional Council led by Very Rev. Felix Mensah Akyea, the then Superintendent Minister and Nana Amoakwa Buadu VI, the then Omanhene respectively.

The first Headmaster was Mr. Ernest K. A. Odoom and was started with six (6) teachers who include Messers E. B. Addai, Mr. Henry Aikins, Mr. Baffour, Mr. Allotey and Mr. T. B. Okwan, supported by a non-teaching staff of two. Student enrollment at the end of the first term was 60. From such modest beginning the school currently has a population of over 1500 students, 62 permanent teachers and 40 non-teaching staff.

The school moved to its present site on 5th May, 1973 after Opanyin Kofi Tawiah, the then Ebuaupanyin of Turom Nsona royal family of Asikuma had released a land to the state for the permanent site for the school.

Our founding fathers had a wonderful dream for the school to produce God-fearing boys and girls with the requisite knowledge, skills, right studies and determination to go out into the world to make it better for themselves, their families, the community and the nation at large. The school has produced many great sons and daughters who are performing in many spheres of life.

It can proudly be said that BASS has been a torch-bearer in our effort at developing our human resources and training ground for our future leaders. There are products of the school who are Teachers, Lawyers, Military Officers, Doctors, Judges, Bankers, Engineers, Ministers of Religion, Businessmen and women, indeed men and women of other professions practicing within and outside Ghana

The motto of the school is “Dzin pa ye sen Ahonya,” (Good name is better than Riches) which serves as guide to shape the character of the students.
