History

St Mary’s Senior High School is an all female first cycle institution in Korle Gonno in the Greater Accra Region, Ghana.

St. Mary’s Senior High School was established on 6 February 1950 by the Catholic missionary sisters known as Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit(SSPS).The school started with ten girls and a staff of two(2) Reverend sisters namely: the late Reverend Sisters, Jane and Rosette.

The school has an alliance with Accra Academy, which is seen as the brother school of St. Mary’s Senior High School. This alliance is aimed at promoting intellectual development between students of both institutions. Their alliance involves the sharing of social gatherings and entertainment.

Admission Process

New students are admitted every September through a computerized system managed by the Ghana Education Service.

Admission is based on the Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) results, held annually for junior high school students at various centers nationwide.

Entry forms for the B.E.C.E examination are obtained from the West African Examination Council (W.A.E.C) through junior high school headteachers.

After the computerized selection process, the Ghana Education Service releases the admission list to the school, which is then posted on the school’s notice board.

Foreign nationals can apply for admission through a written entrance examination organized by the school.
